Trümmelbach Falls

The Trümmelbach Falls are a series of ten illuminated, glacier-fed waterfalls that can be accessed via a tunnel lift inside the mountain – a unique natural spectacle in Grindelwald.

The Trümmelbach is a stream that drains the huge glacier walls of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains, transporting up to 20,000 litres per second and 20,200 tons of debris every year from its catchment area (24 square kilometres), half of which is covered in snow and ice. They’re the only glacier-fed waterfalls in Europe that can be accessed despite being situated inside a mountain!

The Trümmelbach Falls are some of the 72 waterfalls in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, which also include the impressive Staubbach Falls. The hike is mostly flat and will take you from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg, past water that comes gushing down from vertical rock faces, some of which are hundreds of metres high.
